Poetry

Poems that I find inspiring and beautiful...

I lost my sister Kristen in a tragic car accident August 19, 2008... it was the day after my daughter's 2nd birthday. I constantly struggle with her death, she was my best friend. This is for her. I love you and I miss you every single day and so does Amaya.

Little Sister Lost: Author Unknown

My little sister lost
I can't believe your gone
It wasn't all that long ago
that we talked until the dawn

We wasn't always close, you see
Sometimes we fought out loud
And said some things we shouldn't have
And tangled round and round

And strangely when I reflect upon
the times when we were sad
I also remember the tears we shed
when we hurt eachother bad

So in our hearts of hearts we knew
the love we shared was true
and everything that goes around
will somehow come back to you

My little sister lost
I never got to say
How much you meant to me
before you went away

So I'm writing you this poem
and hoping that you knew
That even though you're gone
I always cared for you.

Untitled
If I could have just one wish,
I would wish to wake up everyday
to the sound of your breath on my neck,
the warmth of your lips on my cheek,
the touch of your fingers on my skin,
and the feel of your heart beating with mine...
Knowing that I could never find that feeling
with anyone other than you.

A Little Prayer
BY
Robert Service

Let us be thankful, Lord, for little things -
The song of birds, the rapture of the rose;
Cloud-dappled skies, the laugh of limpid springs,
Drowned sunbeams and the perfume April blows;
Bronze wheat a-shimmer, purple shade of trees -
Let us be thankful, Lord of Life, for these!

Let us be praiseful, Sire, for simple sights; -
The blue smoke curling from a fire of peat;
Keen stars a-frolicking on frosty nights,
Prismatic pigeons strutting in a street;
Daisies dew-diamonded in smiling sward -
For simple sights let us be praiseful, Lord!

Let us be grateful, God, for health serene,
The hope to do a kindly deed each day;
The faith of fellowship, a conscience clean,
The will to worship and the gift to pray;
For all of worth in us, of You a part,
Let us be grateful, God, with humble heart.
